I come from a place in Biafraland where men and women train their children by using idiomatic expressions, Proverbs, folklore, legends etc.
One of the Igbo Proverbs says"
Okenye adighi ano n’ulo, ewu amuo n'ogbiri"
(" A goat does give birth while tied in the stable, when an elder is at home)
With the current happenings in our land, it appears we are in short supply of men, bold men, men of honour and integrity.
So, if Chukwu Okike Abiama did not raise Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and members of IPOB at this time in our history as a people, our people would have been consumed by our enemies and our land inhabited by uncircumcised barbarians from Sahel region.
The way our traditional Rulers have been pocketed by Governors, the way our politicians are being disrespected, cajoled and intimidated by their contemporaries from other regions are worrisome.
Just few days ago, Sheikh Gumi, a Boko Haram, Fulani bandit’s negotiator gave instruction to government to train Igbo youth to fight IPOB and ESN.
Just recently again, he instructed that the government should arrest anyone calling for the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, as a terrorist.
In all these rubbish Sheikh Gumi was vomiting, no South East politician, with exception of Sen. Enyinnaya Abaribe has the balls to call him to order or even call for his arrest as a Boko Haram and Bandits spokesperson.
What really happened to our people. Unfortunately, our people have failed to leverage on golden opportunities offered to them by IPOB.
The Northern politicians go to negotiating table with their Boko Haram and Bandits which they even used to threaten President Goodluck Johnathan out of power.
The South West politicians go to negotiating table with OPC.
Even the South-South politicians go to negotiating table with MEND.
If Igbo politicians cling on IPOB or rally behind IPOB, they can get a better deal than what they have presently in Nigeria, but unfortunately, they have been programmed to remain docile and continue with playing appeasement politics to their contemporaries from other regions, very pathetic indeed.
Unfortunately, time is running out, and IPOB is already leading the way.
If they unite as one man and request for division of Nigeria through a plebiscite or referendum nobody will arrest them. If they all with one voice request for the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu from illegal detention, heaven will not fall because they were elected to represent our people.
If they fail to play their role as elders, we will help them play that role, just like ESN was created, when they kept quiet as our people are being murdered by Fulani terrorists masquerading as herdsmen in our land.
If we play their role which they are shying away from, they may live the rest of their life in disrepute and dishonour.
An Elder should be an Elder who leads from the front, not a coward.
