They are old war horses. That was how one political analyst described the political class in Nigeria. You cannot beat them in their own, never ever.
Lullaby is a soothing song to lull children to sleep. These old war horses know how to put their victims to sleep. They prefer you to be asleep, so that their looting spree can proceed without any resistance or obstruction. Their Lullaby tunes include;
(a) Media Shoe Shinning:
No matter how corrupt and incompetent a group of leaders may be, the media has always by proxy aligned to clean up the mess of the corrupt leaders of the ruling party. This is made possible through financial inducement, because Nigeria is a pariah state where journalistic profession and media broadcasting contents have been auctioned to the highest bidder.
(b) Harsh Economic Policies
Another Lullaby they employ to keep the citizens indolent or asleep is poverty. No matter how they pretend, they are happy to know that the masses are impoverished, because when you are poor, you cannot challenge the authorities, you will always feel timid before your oppressors.
(c) Intimidation
One of their major lullabies is intimidation, they mount police and military checkpoints in all the highways and in our rural communities. This is systematically done to put fear on the people, so as to avoid any insurrection or riot against the oppressors.
(d) Empty Promises
They make empty promises and political rhetorics, to mislead the people, thereby holding them down with them false hope.
(e) Diversionary Measures
They will raise unnecessary issues and programmes, whenever there is tension, just to engage the people with senseless activities like" get your BVN, NIN, register your sim, link it to your NIN, link your NIN to your bank accounts. All these measures have not been able to tackle insecurity in Nigeria.
Can anyone tell me the rationale behind the changing of the National Anthem to the old one that was discarded about 45 years ago, when the masses are dying of hunger?
The petrol pump price is very high, the electricity tariff is very high, the exchange rate per dollar is high, and the minimum wage is very low etc. In all these, the only thing the leaders could do as an urgent response to cry of the masses is to compel Nigerians to start learning the old Nigeria Anthem. To me it sounds like a Lullaby aimed at putting the masses to sleep.
In all these harsh economic conditions, the house of assembly members which are living big with SUV cars worth 160 million naira each are now pleading to Nigerians to tighten their belt. It’s so pathetic.
Time to renegotiate the false unity of Nigeria that has brought only tears, sorrow and blood to the indigenous communities.
