Most of our beliefs, wisdoms and knowledges of our elders and ancestors are wisely hidden in our proverbs, idioms, epigrams, anecdotes and folklore. This is who we are.
A real Igbo man/woman or a Biafran who is properly trained by his or her parents and was fortunate enough to come in contact with his or her grandparents before they joined their ancestors, may not need any other formal education to be successful in this life.
One of our Proverbs say; "oji ihe nwata welie aka ya elu, mgbe aka gbuwe ya mgbu owetuo aka ya." This means in English, "when you snatch an object belonging to a child and raises your hand beyond the reach of the child, when your hands get weak, you will definitely bring it down."
The above philosophical statement tells much about my people. We so much believe in Chukwu Okike to fight our battle for us. That does not portray us as cowards before our enemies. Yes, we are not cowards. Because we also believe that "agaghi eji mgbagbu ghalu ogu" (meaning "Fear of death cannot stop us from fighting for our survival").
Sometimes when you translate some of our proverbs to English, they lose their deep spiritual meaning, but I appreciate the fact that some of my friends on Facebook are not Biafrans.
This our total dependence on the ability of our Chi to fight for us is being misconstrued by our enemies to mean an act of weakness and cowardice on our part.
Are we cowards? Are we a coward’s race? NO! How can cowards parade on highway with only Biafra flags while being aimed and shot by Nigeria soldiers in Aba, Onitsha, Igweocha etc. After the massacre, if you call for protest another day, thousands of Biafrans will still come out unarmed and fearless.
Nigeria Army and Police are always happy to be posted here in Biafraland where they intimate and kill Biafrans without being confronted by anyone. But the same Army and Police will not hesitate to resign from the Police or Army when posted to the North East where he will face the real terrorists in combat.
We have remained peaceful and fearless before our enemies. These attributes have set confusion in the camp of Biafran enemies.
All the killings of Biafrans and burning of our communities was actually intended to push us to arm struggle but we kept our cool because we are under one central command and control.
Do Nigeria Army ever think they can defeat Biafrans if we decide to bear arms? Definitely NO! USA was unable to defeat Vietnam in their own land. USA was unable to defeat Afghanistan in their own land.
We defended Biafraland against world powers for complete 3 years (1967-1970) before there was a call for truce and seize fire.
We are peaceful by nature, tradition and religion. That is why we call for UN conducted Plebiscite or Referendum to leave Nigeria in peace, but if Nigeria throws the option of arms struggle in their desperation to totally exterminate Biafrans because of our mineral resources, we will receive it with open arms, because for a true Biafran; "an honourable death in a battle of survival is better than a life of perpetual slavery."
