Bitter Leaf is bitter, but we cannot ignore its nutritious and medicinal values, so is the truth we present on this platform.
I stumbled over this document online and I decided to share it on this platform, for those congenital liars who refer to themselves as political leaders of thought, who have done nothing but impoverish their own people by looting the treasury dry and flying the ugly kite of ethnic jingoism just to divert the attention of their gullible followers, who should hold them accountable for their stewardship as public servants.
It is often said that lies told over and over again without being countered, tends to come to be held as true. But as always, truth always catches up with it.
For over 50 years, some section of Nigerians has made it a point of duty to reinforce the narrative that the 1966 coup was an Igbo coup because it was led by Kaduna Nzeogwu, an Igbo man. Even though this same people claim that Nzeogwu’s village and town is not Igboland, and that the rest of Nzeogwu’s kinsmen are not Igbos; a narrative they have vigorously and fiercely pursued and have reinforced for decades.
But with their monopoly on the media now beginning to wane due to the advent of Social Media, their control of narrative of events, which they have often distorted to suit their primordial biases, is fading, and a more balanced narrative that captures the wholistic happenings of what transpired is now being told.
So, in regards to the 1966 coup which these elements have hitherto painted as an Igbo coup, continually giving only the names of the 7 Igbo officers who participated in the ill-fated coup while leaving out other officers from other tribes who equally participated actively in the coup.

There you have it. But I’m sure that apart from Nzeogwu and Ifeajuna, you probably never heard of the names of the other guys and the question is why? And it is because some elements deliberately chose to tell a one-sided story to further their ill agenda against a particular tribe and people. And after over 50 years the war ended, this same people are still hell-bent on selling this same old and erroneous and fallacious narrative for the same primordial agenda.
So, I ask you, having seen the full list of the coup plotters, do you still think it was an Igbo coup?
And if your answer to the above question is “Yes”. Then tell us why Murtala Muhammed and Buhari coups were not Fulani coups? Tell us why Buka Suka Dimka coup was not a Plateau coup? Tell us why IBB coup was not an Hausa coup? Tell us why Gideon Orkar’s coup was not a Tiv coup? Tell us why Abacha coup was not a Kanuri coup? And only the one led by Nzeogwu was given that ethnic label and reinforced till today?
For this lies alone, over 6 million Biafrans were murdered and over 3.5 Million Biafran infants and children were starved to death by Gen. Yakubu Gowon and Chief Obafemi Awolowo the then Minister for Finance. This is pure genocide and the perpetrators are busy gallivanting with world leaders and none has been apprehended till date, including Yakubu Gowon; the arch-genocidist.
No one has been questioned by UN. That is why I said that UN remains a criminal organisation until they address the issue of Biafra Genocide and put machinery in place for Biafra Referendum. UN and Nigeria owe Biafrans apology and annual reparations, the same way the German government is paying Israelis annually; the children and survivors of Jewish Holocaust.
It is even sad to mention here that the forceful disappearance and killing of innocent Biafrans have continued by Nigeria military and police, because nobody has been arrested or persecuted for killing a Biafran. Biafrans are now an endangered species in Nigeria.
