What is Religion? Why do we say Biafra is our Religion? Why do you people think Christianity is our Problem?
Now, let us look at a deeper definition of Religion:
Religion, in its most comprehensive sense, includes a belief in the being and perfections of God, in the revelation of his will to man, in man's obligation to obey his commands, in a state of reward and punishment, and in man's accountableness to God; and also, true godliness or piety of life, with the practice of all moral duties. It therefore comprehends theology, as a system of doctrines or principles, as well as practical piety; for the practice of moral duties without a belief in a divine lawgiver, and without reference to his will or commands, is not religion (Webster 1828 Dictionary).
As comprehensive as this definition appears, you are at liberty to argue it out with your own definition.
Politics: A methodology and activities associated with running a government, an organization, or a movement. The profession of conducting political affairs.
Political manoeuvres or diplomacy between people, groups, or organizations, especially involving power, influence or conflict.
I decided to address this issue of religious ignominy once again after reading some barrage of insult by some individuals against some religious organisations. These individuals hide under the cover of being Biafra agitators to castigate what they call white man's religion (Christianity).
There is a thin line between our traditional culture (Odinani) and biblical ordinance of the Torah.
Was it the Bible that taught our ancestors the law of CIRCUMCISION, PURIFICATION, BURIAL OF THE DEAD, NEW YAM FESTIVAL AND HARVEST, MARRIAGE, PRAYING BEFORE BREAKING KOLA, ANIMAL SACRIFICE, BLESSING WITH RIGHT HAND etc?
Since our ancestors are believed to be the ancient people who communicated with the Almighty creator Chukwu Okike, I can boldly say that three major religion has its root from Igbo Odinani; the Orthodox Judaism, Christianity and Islam. The whole Torah was built on Igbo Odinani /Nso. Islamic religion copied some stories like the story of Abraham, Isaac and Ishmael from the Old Testament. The followers of Christ read the Torah or the Old Testament including the Messiah himself.
You can see how everything is connected now, either by commission, omission or apostasy. Men are now fighting for their perceived God who is somewhere frowning at their ignorance, men now believe their own way to worship God is the best.
In our journey to freedom some have lost focus, they have crafty gone on recess to play interlude of religious ignominy. I will keep reminding you that Biafra political independence is more important than your religious extremism.
Religion had never been an issue in our land. We even believe "Onye na Chi ya" (Every one and his own god). This I believe, is the highest level of religious freedom ever practised by any race.
If Biafra is our religion as our leader said, every effort should be geared towards restoration of Biafra and not mudslinging of any particular religious affiliation.
