In the past few months, I have read a lot of articles online by fellow Biafran agitators in an attempt to castigate one religion above the other. Some of them even in their posts almost showing traits of atheism as their choice religion still show anti-religious pose.
If you believe in that school of thought that Biafra land is the centre of the universe and the birth place of humanity, then you must as well believe that every philosophy, politics and religion surrounding the Good the Bad and the Ugly of the universe in its natural, advanced or corrupted form, hypothetically originated from Biafran land.
This may sound so vague, but some statements need deep thinking before you can come up with a reasonable argument or conclusion.
Now let us look at a simple dictionary definition of RELIGION and POLITICS.
RELIGION:
The belief in and worship of a supernatural controlling power, especially a personal god or gods.
A particular system of faith and worship.
POLITICS:
A methodology and activities associated with running a government, an organization, or a movement.
The profession of conducting political affairs.
Politics and Religion are two parallel lines that cannot meet without being injurious to some citizens of the same state.
The adoption of a state religion in 1st century by the Roman state led to the inquisition known as the dark age of the church, which has remained a dark sport in Church history.
A lot of us frown when we read about the Jewish holocaust where 6Million Jews were massacred by Nazi regime of Germany. But the Roman State/Church when they arrogantly and naively adopted a state religion killed over 60 million Jewish and non-Jewish Christians, who they labelled “heretics" for not believing in some controversial doctrines that were adopted by the church after the unholy union of the church and the state. You can go and read about INQUISITION in the Church History books in any library or even online.
Permit me to say that Biafra is a microcosm of the universe, we have diverse languages and culture but one common historical ancestry.
What we need in Biafra is a political system hinged on viable people's constitution, that will respect our cultural diversities and our fundamental human rights which include freedom of speech and freedom of worship. All our activities being regulated by the same constitution for peaceful coexistence and even distribution of economic gains.
Religion should be a personal thing. To place one religion above the other or even to condemn any religion in an attempt to preserve the other is an arrogance of mediocrity. We have to remain focused in our agitation and should not allow religion to distract our attention.
Our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu condemned religious leaders for their criminal silence over the killings of our people. He never condemned any religion for he is also a religious man, if not you wouldn't be calling him Prophet You should stop where he stopped.
