In his letter to the Hebrew Christians, Apostle Paul wrote: “Since therefore the children Share in flesh and blood, he (JESUS CHRIST) himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery” (Heb. 2:14-15).

The above quotation asserts how FEAR OF DEATH can keep its victim in perpetual bondage, not minding the fact that the death of Jesus Christ shattered the hold of devilish fear of death on mankind.

In retrospection, the Igbo monarchs, and by extension, the Igbos, have remained in lifelong trauma, as a result of the horrendous and horrifying experiences of the genocidal war levied against Biafrans by Britain and the rest of Nigeria.

When therefore, you hear them make such comments as;

  • “These children have not seen war before, that is why they are misbehaving”
  • “Go and ask those who witnessed the war”
  • “They want to cause another war”,
  • "They are very stubborn”,
  • “They are mostly uninformed, or illiterate youths or riff-raff “, they are only trying to express how comfortable they are in their captivity under the caliphate yoke.

This implies that they prefer to remain crumb pickers and errand boys of the devil’s agents, who have subjected them to bondage through threat and fear of death.
But it will not be forgotten that the man dies in him who fails to, or is not capable of expressing himself freely.

The more they think that they are securing their lives the more they die within, and even literally.
The captor can never stop at anything in the bid to gag, emasculate, or enfeeble the prey, just as it was with Ben-Hadad, who, from silver, gold, wife and children already surrendered to him by Ahab, demanded for every other thing pleasant in his house and that of his servants.

It must be noted that it was the young men of the princes of the provinces (youths), that came to the rescue of the king, and the whole nation, as prophesied.

It is very striking, and so, cannot be forgotten, that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is a prince, leading other princes of the provinces of Biafra land. His incarceration is a symbolic imprisonment of everyone he is fighting for, including the kings (monarchs).

Some of these so-called monarchs betrayed their indomitable youths because of the crumbs from their master's table, in the form of monthly salaries, free SUVs, and other gratifications, accompanied with the threat of dethronement and other emasculative measures, including imprisonment and death, should they refuse to dance the drumbeat of the Fulani caliphate oligarchy, as opposed to the captivating and mesmerizing Ohafia dance steps, symbolizing, or rather signifying the republicanism of the Biafran people.

It has been observed that after the incident at Njaba Local Government headquarters where some Monarchs unfortunately lost their lives, the survivors quickly formed a committee to take a positive stand for Mazi Nnamdi Kanu,

(Thinking aloud), Could it be that the painful death of these Monarchs have permanently or temporarily delivered them from the power of fear of death, having found themselves in the precarious situation that they now are?

Considering the interaction and altercation that took place shortly before the convocation, the monarchs may have decided, like the four lepers in 2kings 7:3, that went to the gate of Samaria, that they better speak out the dictates of their conscience, since no one actually knows whom to fear, in view of the fact that there seems to be no difference between the DSS, POLICE, ARMY, and UGM.

Though we are pained by the tragic and unfortunate loss of these monarchs, who still happen to be our kit and kin, does it not look like the it has taken the Njaba incident to resurrect the might in them, and unshackle them from the invisible but potent entanglement of the fear of death? “Let’s all die in the struggle if need be”, I hear them say in their heart.

I cannot therefore, but taunt death: O DEATH WHERE IS THY STING (FEAR)? O GRAVE WHERE IS THY VICTORY?
